The website was running Joomla 1.0.15 and had been attacked by an SQL injection using a deprecated form script to exploit. Here is how i traced the source and fixed the problem.

spamSPAM  used to just be meat in a can ... now it is filling peoples inbox at an alarming rate and guess what? It always will but there are a few things we can do to minimize it. Alot of spam can come from you signing up for something on the internet and leaving a box ticked somewhere. It is important to read the screen at each stage of signing up for something or installing a program.

While i much prefer the linux operating environment the fact is that there is a much wider range of software and users for its competitors.
