Water DropletThis is a variation on the Baghdad Battery using only tap water as an electrolyte. Can you run a light, or recharge a small electronic device using only water? Sure!. While copper and zinc have a very good potential voltage difference, they succumb to mother natures desire for equilibrium very quickly. Elsewhere on this site you can see examples of various batteries using the redox principle and most lasted only a few days. The metals begin to build up a protective layer on the outside which saves them from further degradation and slows the reaction to a halt. When this happens the battery dies.

A simple explanation of how a plate array in a HHO electrolysis device also acts as a capacitor. When the unit is switched off the plates hold a slowly dissipating charge, and the plates still produce small amounts of gas. A capacitor of this config holds energy in the electric field between the plates. The voltage meter shows the voltage of the cell after the current has been disconnected.

A brief explanation of an electrolysis cell in Portuguese.

Mini HHO cell
DIY - Struggle for power

This design is made of 2 inch 316L stainless steel washers and bolts in a slender array for insertion into a cylindrical casing. The power supply is 12V which is divided among the 5 cell pairs giving 2.4V per cell. This is the optimum voltage per cell before excess heat starts being produced and wasted. The electrolyte is almost 1 litre of pure water with 1/2 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate. I was impressed with the output of the cell while i only designed it to test the heat output of a smaller unit.I will use the design in a mini hydroxy torch with built in power supply. Here is the test video.

hydrogen productionThis is the first production test of my single HHO fuel cell. The electrolysis process takes place in an aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution for testing and will eventually use potassium hydroxide in water. For this reason the components of the cell are made of stainless steel with either 304 or 316 grade alloys which should withstand the electrolysis process much longer than any other viable metals.

There is no doubt about it ... the use of water to run a combustion engine more efficiently is in widespread use. I have seen numerous examples of people using HHO Cells in the vehicles and video taping the evidence of their success. There are even some examples of people running small modified engines entirely on the hydroxy gas.
